Over four decades, Presentation House Gallery has presented more than 300 exhibitions of photographic art, earning a reputation as one of Canada’s most adventurous and highly respected public art galleries. Some of the most important local and international artists have been featured at the Gallery – from acclaimed Vancouver photographers Stan Douglas and Fred Herzog to world-renowned artists Ansel Adams and Andy Warhol – as well as the work of North Van students participating in our innovative Chester Fields program. We’re proud of our long history of producing programs which enrich thousands of visitors each year with new considerations about the world in which we live.

Presentation House Gallery

Presentation House Gallery is currently housed in an old school house on the corner of Chesterfield and 3rd street in North Vancouver. Built in 1902, the building has served the community well as a police station, a temporary City Hall, and since 1976, the home of the Presentation House Gallery, the North Vancouver Museum, and the Presentation House Theatre. While it was a wonderful place for the Gallery in its early days, the deteriorating condition of the building, the lack of accessibility, and the shortage of exhibit and storage space have resulted in a collaborative effort with the City of North Vancouver to find the Gallery a new home.

The City of North Vancouver has long considered arts and culture a priority for the lifestyle and well-being of the community. Council has shown visionary leadership in its plan to develop the Lonsdale Waterfront as a thriving and inviting public space. As part of this vision, the new Presentation House Gallery will become a community gathering spot and cultural hub, serving as a catalyst for the redevelopment of the waterfront. The new Presentation House Gallery building will include exhibit space, a café and wine bar, educational space, public event rental space, bookstore and gift shop, retail shops, and a waterfront walkway and public plaza for outdoor events such as performances and movie screenings.

We’re really proud that this vision for our New Home for Presentation House Gallery has earned the support of a wide community of people including artists, businesspeople, civic officials and members of the public.
